Useful Instructions
Grill fitting set
You'll Need
- A Phillips head screw driver
- An electric drill and 3mm drill bit (optional)
- A sharp craft knife / snap off blade (optional)
- Contact Adhesive glue (optional)
- Penetrating aerosol lubricant (optional)
- Unscrew all your old screws
- Replace the grill clips by removing the old clips and sliding the new clips onto your new grill. Press these around the grill to ensure they are secure
- Screw in your new screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Easy as that! BUT ... If you have any stubborn screws which may be rusted through, you will need to go to a little more effort
- For stubborn screws first you should try and apply a penetrating aerosol lubricant to try and release the screws from the nuts. Retry undoing the screws and replace with new screws
- If you still have no luck you will need to drill the screws out using a drill bit no bigger than 3mm
- Once you have all the holes cleared you can insert the new screws and tighten HOWEVER ... if the thread on the nut on the other side is not catching you will need to replace the nuts
- To do this you will need to pry back the foam adjacent to the screw holes using a sharp craft knife
- Remove the old nuts and rubber washer and slide in the new nuts and washers in the holes
- Once the nuts are back in place you can insert your screws and tightenFINALLY ... you should re glue your foam back in place using a Contact Adhesive glue designed to be suitable for Polyethlene (PE) or ethylene venyl acetate (EVA) foam. We use Ados F2, F55 or F91 contact adhesive
- Apply a thin layer of glue to both the foam and the helmet, let dry until they are both 'tacky' to touch and press into place. Repeat for all loose pieces of foam
- Leave your helmet to dry for 24 hours to allow the glue to set before using it again
